Welcome to “What’s Happening in the Apartment” the internet show covering all things related to the Apartment Wrestling Club. As most of you know, I’m Dan Dawson and I have a lot of things to get you caught up on. The AWC World Championship Tournament is quickly coming down to the end where we will find out who becomes the first AWC World Champion. The last round had our individual Club Champions taking to the floor and only one of them advanced to the semi-final round and she actually got beat up by her opponent after the match ended with her winning.
The semi-final matches are coming right up and will be fought using the AWC’s new championship format. The fights will be broken up in four minute rounds followed by one minute rest periods and the first submission ends the fight. If the match goes through four rounds, the fifth round has no time limit and will only end with a submission to decide the match. Here is how I see these two semi-final matches shaking out:
Callie versus Drury – Two undefeated fighters. Lots of verbal sparring. Callie getting a win and then being embarrassed by Tisha. Drury dominating the European champion in her last fight. This one is just full of juicy storylines. I’m going to hedge my bets here. If Drury gets control early, she might just dominate Callie in a quick win. After that Tisha match, Callie might just be ripe for a mental surrender in this fight. If the fight goes a little longer, Drury might be facing something she hasn’t faced before in the AWC. Can Drury hold up if she finds herself being worked over by an equally talented opponent. I think I am going to go with Drury in this one. She is a nasty fighter and seems pretty tough to stop. If anyone can do it, Callie is the one though.
Suzette versus Sierra – Coming into this match Suzette has been on an incredible hot streak and has momentum on her side. Sierra is a very talented fighter and remains undefeated in the AWC. This promises to be quite a battle. Mix in that it is a rematch where Sierra seemed to handle Suzette pretty easily. The rematch aspect makes this one particularly hard to predict as revenge, overconfidence, and sometimes uncertainty on the prior loser’s part all mix into the brew. This promises to be an incredible and fun fight to watch. My heart is rooting for Suzette to get her revenge and my head is telling me Sierra will beat Suzette a second time. Either way it will be a treat for AWC fans.
As we close in on crowing the AWC World Champion, the lightweight fighters are positioning themselves and making their cases for being included in the lightweight championship picture. Looking to the near future, the lightweight championship match is coming right up as well as championship fights in each of the Clubs. Claims to title shots are being made and fighters are positioning themselves for the upcoming AWC Night of the Champions.
